Tove Love

I've posted these picture of Tove Jansson because she is ace! She was from Helskini.. where so many good things come from - and was an amazing illustrator of beautiful children's books. I haven't read ANY of these.. but i want to.. have you got any? I'd love to know... my sister-in-law has been telling me about these for years, and I kept forgetting the title.. and now.. here they are and she's right.. I want them!

You can find more HOT kids illo tips over here... beware.. it's super good.

LOVE her! I have elderly copies of Finn Family Moomintroll and Comet in Moominland from when I was 8 or 9... And The Summer Book is lined up in my reading queue - I didn't realize she wrote adult books too until someone recommended this to me last year - it's a novel about a girl who spends summers with her artist grandmother on a little Finnish island, based on her own experiences.

What lovely work. My parents just visited their friend Tove (pronounced Torv to we Australians) in Norway this year. It's such a pretty name for such a clever lady. Love Posie

I recently had a brief stop over in Helsinki airport and they have a whole Moomin shop there filled with all sorts of lovely bits and pieces. It was so popular (the shop was packed) but I had never heard of Moomin until then. It's so cute isn't it?

"Who Will Comfort Toffle?" is my favourite book. Wonderful illustrations, great names and I got my copy at Metropolis Books in the city.

I love the idea of the moomins talking books, I have only had time to read Comet in Moominland, a lovely gentle read.
