Softies for Mirabel

The Mirabel Foundation is an amazing organisation that supports children aged 0 - 17 who have been affected by parental substance abuse. You can find out more here. Many children lose a parent, are orphaned, are separated from their siblings or are left in the care of unprepared grandparents. It's something that seems so very sad to me, I'd really like to start a few projects to help these ace kids over the next year or so.

Mikes would like to put out a call for handmade softies which we'd love to donate to Mirabel in early December to be distributed as they wish. If you'd like to make a softie - please leave a comment.

All softies need to be child friendly (no buttons or beads please) - We need them to reach Mikes by November 20th. We'll put them all in the window on display for a couple of weeks - and then pass them on to Mirabel.

Your softie can be super-simple, or complex - it can be scary or happy - you can use any pattern you like - these are not for resale. Feel free to attach a lovely note to your softie that will be passed on - but keep it simple and positive!

Looking forward to your softie love!

xx pip

This is a great idea Pip.
Also, I'd like to do care packages for women and older girls (like sanitary products, or
simple pampering items.) Does anyone have an idea of an organisation to go through for this?

What a special idea! I've recently started making softies and have very quickly become addicted! :) I'll do my best to make and pass onto you, but I'm due with my 2nd child in 6 weeks and I'm madly getting all my Christmas shopping done, and everything else organised....
Good on you though!!

Count me in Pip. I am so behind on my reading I only just caught up with this one. Do you need us to drop it in to store? And I didn't even realise you were on Brunny Street now. God, I've obviously been in a coma! I'll have to stop by. Are you usually in Fitzroy or Richmond?
