Here is the absolute killer swag of stuff we rounded up via a couple of teeny op-shops yesterday and the Camberwell Market on Sunday. The Hobbytex and the books and the pyrex and the pretty pot were found at 7pm on Sunday morning prior to my breakfast catchup with Kirsty.
The rest of the stuff was courtesy of a couple of crazily cheap oppys. You know the kind where you pay them more then they ask because it seems like the right thing to do? Included (but yet to be photographed) were two gorgeous vintage bikes. We also got a replacement lid for our broken food processor which makes it hum perfectly again! Can you believe it?
And the PRINT GOCCO! Ohmigosh! Complete with four screens and four bulbs and two pens and 6 lots of ink and someone else's cute attempts at printing writing paper tucked into the box! It was found on the side of the road. It also contained a hand-written recipe for Pork Chops. Yikes. It's exactly like the Gocco I already have - and perfect for spare parts and bonus consumables! I could not believe it - and still can't!
I think we spent about $45 in total - and we got such lovely things! How about the seventies orange fold-up picnic table?! Oh, we used to go for day trips in our old Mazda when I was about 6 and my Dad would whip one of these out of the boot and make burgers for everyone while we all paddled along the sandy, pebbly, Tasmanian shores in our crocheted bikinis!
And the mod esky waiting to be chock full of ice! Oh, I LOVE the pattern on it so much! Four red fifties vinyl chairs in perfectly scuffed condition. The cobwebby birdcage is destined to hold pretty plants against the garden wall... And the weird light box by Gestetner is a complete mystery - and clunkily industrial. I don't know what we will do with that. The file that says 'A PLANE' is in a little suitcase. It belonged to a teacher of deaf children and contains a whole lot of clippings, class notes and teaching aids from the 1960s. It's just amazing. I'll try and find time to scan in some of her things for you all to see.
Phew. It's almost too much, isn't it. I think I need to lie down. Thanks for reading and looking! Maybe you should lie down too?
xx Pip

ReplyDeleteCrocheted bikinis.
ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten about them.
Mine were chocolate brown and fawn.
The bum used to go baggy and hang down at the back when they got wet.
You found a gocco! And I though my hard rubbish, giant sized world map was good.
ReplyDeleteTreasure! Totally well deserved finds... The Good Gocco Fairy must be watching you.
ReplyDeleteOh Lordy, so much goodness. I have a Gocco scored on FreeCycle and one of the kids has the same Hobbytex tin - belonged to her nana and still has all the inks. The esky is a find. Gorgeous. The op shop gods have been good. I picked up a cute little chair off the side of the road on Sunday and was tempted by a typewriter - it's still there. No, be strong. And I spied a desk yesterday and a killer lounge suite today. I love council pick up time.
