I get to see the trams rattling and banging by. And people waiting in the phone boxes for other people to bring them things that they shouldn't. And there are trees and grass and things to look at. It's a nice place to work. It gives me a bit of space to actually think, instead of just doing.
I have the heater on, and the telly is on too. I like to watch Ellen and cooking shows while I do my work. Tough life, huh? I guess that's one of the perks of working from home - but don't forget that it's balanced out by the working every day thing - don't be too hard on me!
The light is very nice up here too - it's dark and artificial lighting downstairs, despite it's cheery yellow hue. I've only just realised that the lack of light is really bugging me down there. So I'm totally au natural up here, and it's suiting me just fine.
At the moment I'm working on ::
Upstairs - some writing projects, my new book, crochet study, some photos
Downstairs - packing orders, making wallets, Brown Owls packs, paper packs
My Creative Space is hosted by Kirsty
a wonderful space to work with a view like that, the grannies look fabulous in the photo, I am still trying to do one, with your book in hand, but alas I am all thumbs and just throw tantrums when I try to do it
ReplyDeleteand you get to see the russian dolls. my kids call that place the russian doll park and squeal with excitement whenever they see them!
ReplyDeletehaven't seen you for ages, so just wanted to say gday really!
There's the Babushka dolls again! I just posted about them on my creative space, remembering my first ever trip to Mikes (2008?). It's been so long... I hope to come by again soon.
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely space to work each day.
I like this so very much! Light, a view, warmth, time. Perfect. xx
ReplyDeleteAw thanks you guys! On the weekend we even light a fire! Sigh.
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful. I live in the dandenongs and I get so excited when I come to the city! I love the trams.
ReplyDeleteI've only lived in Melbourne for 10 months....although I think I will still be excited about our new home when I'm 70.
Ellen - a must. She's awesome and fun and I need to watch her show as much as having my coffee in the morning.
I would give anything to have a view on those big babuschka's! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your upstairs space with light & a view. So lovely.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds fabulous! You've got me thinking about all the space in our roof now! Thanks for this. K
ReplyDeleteit's great to be up high ~ am jealous of your natural light too!
ReplyDeletei love the granny with the 2 greens and the white flower :)
A very creative space, full of exciting ideas. Great view to the park for inspiration too.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing where creative people make their magic. Thanks for that peek into your special abode.
ReplyDeleteThat was a lovely post and your creative space looks and sounds creative! :-)

That natural light is so important, isn't it? especially at this time of the year. How lovely to have such a cute view of the playground. Your granny squares are great, is there any room left for your family?!
ReplyDeleteIt is great that you are successful in working from home. I myself find it distracting, the endless cups of tea, the computer, the shoe collection, the pussycat. But it is wonderful when you can be focused.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea Pip! More natural light, the company of Ellen and babushka dolls to look at! Sounds like the perfect studio room to me : )

word verification: colikerf, reminds me of colliflower but with kerf in it!
I love the space - and the explanation of the creative space. And I'm so glad I read the comments - the babushka park - I never would have noticed that.
ReplyDeleteAnyways - the space looks great.
Your space looks perfect, especially for this time of year. When it's chilly out I love nothing more than to be behind glass in a cosy place watching the world go by. Enjoy
ReplyDeleteI love catching the tram past those matryoshkas in the park. I can imagine there would be many things to see out your window!
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful to have some natural light! I think I need it as much as I need the air I breathe! The park looks like quite the inspiring view.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
=^..^=
What a nice view to the park - and it seems like a sweet little nook to hideaway and work in peace & quiet!
ReplyDeletep.s. I am hosting a giveaway for a beautiful handmade ceramic item donated by 'love grows by giving' - you can enter here.

little lovelies
you definitely must see some interesting things from up in your little nest! It must be so fun perched up there. If you look hard enough you may one day see me crocheting on the tram. I go past Mikes everyday.
ReplyDeleteThank´s for a lovely blog, full of inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI am always fascinated by where people feel they can do their best creative work! Thanks for letting us see! :0)
ReplyDeleteAwww, that was so nice but it has made me homesick... I'm a Melbourne girl living in New Zealand and stuck in bed with a cold (now kind of realising the irony of my creative space...). Give Melbourne a hug from me.
ReplyDeleteGood decision, Pip. And thanks, coz now I'm going to sort out my room and set some stuff up in the empty space upstairs. This should make a good weekend! xo
