Dinner Rolls - recipe here
I'm trying to tame my Google Reader. (For those of you that don't know - Google Reader is a service offered by Google where you can read all your blogs with ease and automatic updates.) I've been using the 'Blogs I Read' feature in the right hand column of this page, mostly. ------>
Then I've been logging in to Google Reader and just blindly marking all the blogs in there as read. I want to keep the list there so that I can go back to it - but I don't want to make hard work of reading good stuff. Yep. I know. It's a bit radical. But I think that blog reading is not a task. It's something to enjoy and savour when you have the time. It shouldn't be a scroll-through, commentless, chore, now should it? It's meant to be FUN, right?
I think you should read the blogs you feel like reading on any given day - and not worry about 'missing out' or 'not keeping up' , ya know?! Google Reader and Twitter are great - but they do seem to stop people from actually dropping in to a blog and saying hello. Everyone is just skimming past post after post - or chatting on Twitter as an alternative. Interesting, huh? I think we need to slow down a bit.
Because I've been reading fewer blogs more carefully, I've fallen in love all over again with a lot of great people who are writing about good stuff. Some people put a lot of time and effort into their blogs, they really do - I want to take my time with those kind of people! So since my Reader Ignore, it's been much more about the things people are writing and not just about skimming or clicking though and stopping at the most arresting images.
I'll share some of my fave blogs over the next few weeks. You can add these to your Reader, if that works for you - or just bookmark them and file them by adding the label JULY FOOD BLOGS - then they are just sitting in a folder and easy peasy to find when you want to use or add to them. But you don't need to feel OBLIGATED to read them! (More ideas about Bookmarking here.)
This time, it's all about the loveliest Food and Recipe Blogs. Yum.
