This photo was taken in my kitchen a few weeks ago. I think I was making a chocolate cake and this was the cream the butter and sugar phase of the whole thing. This mixer has been in my family for about ten years. Cam bought it for me when Ari was a baby. We were having a bit of a rough time and everybody knows that baking makes things a-ok. So he got me this mixer which was incredibly expensive and extremely blue. A bit like me at the time. Luckily I grew out of my blue stage and am now more yellow... orange even.
But back to the mixer. I have used it every week of every year since. So I think that it probably cost way less then we think. Like 10c per day, really, over such a long period. So reasonable, no? Kitchenaids. They are cheaper than your daily cup of coffee, really. And equally habit forming and therapeutic. I am glad that Cam got me this. I think he thought I might turn into Nigella when I switched it on....
