:: Shyness and The Art Of Saying Hi...

Hi!

I have met a lot of nice people lately who are a bit backwards in coming forwards.  Do you know the sort I mean?  They are the kind of people who are really very interesting, but maybe over-think things a tad and lose their nerve.  They are shy people.  Do you know someone like that?  Are you shy?

Ahem.  I used to be shy. I know. You are giggling now. But honestly, I really DID used to be blushingly, coweringly, painfully shy.  I was the type of gal who would look at her shoes and hope the ground would swallow me up.  Granted I was only 9... but the memory of that feeling is still quite acute.  It makes me shudder and ACTUALLY swallow hard. It is hard being shy, isn't it? Shudder. Swallow. Gulp.

So.  Our new window is all about being shy. And mostly about NOT being shy.  It's about saying 'Hi!'.  It can be quite hard to say 'Hi!'.  So if you see our window on the internet, or when you walk past, or when you drive by, then it is a reminder to say 'Hi!'.  Hopefully it will be to another person.  Maybe you will just say 'Hi!' to your Mum. Or the man on the radio. Or your pet. Or someone else's pet.  Or a magpie.  Or yourself.  Those are okay... but it's really totally MUCH better to say 'Hi!' to someone else who looks nice and friendly.  Or you could just SMILE. Because sometimes 'Hi!' might seem a bit TOO hard.

If you are an extrovert, then this is your opportunity to say 'Hi!' to a lot of people you might not have seen lately. Or people whose shoes you admire.  Or people that are making eyes at you.  So you should do that... and don't say we aren't equal opportunity here at Mike's, because look what I just did there. Inclusive. That is us.

Okay. So. Hi!

xx Pip
