:: How To Dye Eggs For Easter
I think this video is really cute. I do not think that the 'Hello' turns in to a spinning swastika. That is what some people on YouTube thought. Seriously. Just dye some eggs, would ya?! I like this video because it offers lots of cute suggestions to get you going, and then you can just work it out yourself. You could drip wax on the eggs too, couldn't you? Yes you could. Ari suggested 'just using textas' and I think that is a good idea too. Good work Ari.
I don't think these are very yum, so be sure to have some chocolate eggs on hand too. Yes.
How do you dye your eggs?
xx Pip

oh no... it does, it does. Why did you mention it! Now I feel like one of those idiots on youtube...
ReplyDeleteAside from that, I love the style of the video and the suggestions for natural dyes.
Oooh, and Ellen's comment below about the plant leaves for patterns is a great idea, I'm inspired, thank you!

lol on the swastika.... some people need to get a life... oh yeah and Paul is dead... In my family my parents are dying eggs with my kids. I like that a tradition I've shared with my grandparents and great aunt and uncles lives on in my kids. My parents are thrilled that they can pass this on to my children and I love three generations in one kitchen. We also use onion for natural colours and plant cuttings as a lovely pattern. Place a parsley leaf on a cooked egg, cover with a stocking and tie with elastic. Dip int a colour as usual and you have a cool leaf. Wrap your eggs in onion leaves (only the brown ones) and cover with a stocking... same thing. Only bad side to it all is that the segregation of roles continues on sexist lines.... mum and I and my daughter dye the eggs... the men polish them with butter (gives them a lovely shine) and yes we eat all things egg for days after :(
ReplyDeleteoh that is a really cute video..I completely missed the swastika. Happy Easter!
