:: A Year Of Good Things : 27/366

Adorable blogging superstar (and veteran!)  Lobster & Swan has launched The February Matchbox A Day Challenge!  Yay for her!  Every day you decorate or design a matchbox to fit the theme!  She's using vintage matchboxes, wooden ones, but you could do this with regular matchboxes too and set aside the matches like this!

I think this is such a cute project! I love an art/design/craft challenge.  I think a daily habit is a really great way to get inspired and stay motivated. (That's what this whole blog is about really. It's a mostly daily challenge to myself!)

Are you the daily habit kind of person?  Are you the challenge kind of person?  Do you love this cute project?

xx Pip

  1. Wow! This article is so lovely. I immediately went over to Lobster and Swan to have a little peak-what a heart felt story!

    I will definitely be trying this. I also followed the link for Ruffled; another lovely idea. I'm getting married this year and am full of handmade ideas to make my wedding look pretty...kinda fallen in love with this idea; maybe as wedding favours...

    Love your books and love the blog.

  4. Love a challenge. Last year it was to cook new things out of my 40+ cookbooks. A few challenges this year - make one item a month from stuff I pin over on Pinterest and save heaps of money to go to Italy next year.

  5. I've really loved the photo a day challenge that fatmumslim started.. I've been updating them on my blog but the iphone went into the toilet thanks to my one year old so it's in forced retirement! I am like NOT a sewer yet my mother and grandmother are.. I missed that gene however i can bake and they can't so that's something! I've also been making singlets with vintage doilies and buttons and i am selling them at our local Mamma's market next month! Plus I've been wanting the do a crochet workshop too so i can make them for myself.. I just wanted to give you a shout out cause i would not have got the craft bug if it wasn't for your books.. I purchased sew la tea do for my mother as a gift when she became a grandmother when my son was born.. I thought it a fitting gift actually! She loves it + i actually really wanted the fox blanket that was on the cover! I then got given Make Hey for Christmas! I was so happy.. Such an incredible series of books Pip.. IN LOVE.. So now mum and i have bonded over sewing and it's repaired a relationship too as my mother and her mother hadn't spoken in nearly ten year until my son was born.. So this long novel later, that's my challenge.. Learning to sew with the old chooks and loving it.. xx

  6. I think this is a really good idea to do, and now beeing Winter here and all it's really cool to have nice matchboxes near the fireplace. Back when I was a kid I had a simillar project in pre-school just like this, my mom and dad still use the ones I made (*cute*). For me it's really hard to find wodden matchboxes, but I'll try it with paper ones!

    Cheers from Portugal!
