:: Ten Super Ace Things To Knit

I think these knitted poufs look like a lovely sea urchin! via Pickles

I'm more of a crocheter than a knitter, but I do love the 'fabric' of a knit. I really do. My Nanna and my Mum are knitters. I have a feeling I will become more knitty as I get older. At the moment I am yet to finish the scarf I started last YEAR. OMG. Oh well. I never beat myself up over WIPs (Work In Progress-s!)  I think that sometimes you need to follow your natural curiosity when you are making things... well.. in life in general. You shouldn't feel too constrained by craft. It should be a fun, exciting journey, at least SOME of the time.

Are you a knitter? What do you like about knitting? Or do you WISH you were more of a knitter?

xx Pip

  1. I love the process of knitting: choosing the pattern, yarn, making a start and slowly but surely knitting something up. I like to have a project going for all occasions - in front of the telly times, high concentration times, on the go with the kids times.

  3. I've just started knitting an egg cosy, I'm a complete beginner, haven't got very far with it yet but these pictures have inspired me to keep going. I especially love the pouf and the doormat.

  5. Im inspired! Now Im not the best (to say the least) or most dedicated knitter in the world but give me simple cool options and Id give them a bash. Clock, wash cloths & baby blankets are my fave. the fab colours may have something to do with it.

  6. Knit knit knit. Everyone should knit. It's my version of meditation. But you get something beautiful out of it too!

  7. I'm a crocheter, but I've been finding myself knitting more and more - probably because of the super cute patterns at Mochimochi Land. These links are great, thanks for sharing!

  8. I do both knit and crochet. They both have their places. I learned to knit before I was taught to crochet by my wonderful mother in law. She is gone now but the many things she taught me, not all of the being about crochet, stay with me always.

  9. I can crochet, but I've only done simple things so far. I have tried knitting before without much success and I really, really, really want to give it another go! The slipper socks look super cosy, do you think they would be a good beginner's project?

  10. Oh I love the clock and the door mat! I knit and crochet. Learnt to knit first (from my Nanna) but I love both. I agree with Amanda, it's a form of meditation for me :)

I definitely want to try the clock - I have just the clock on my wall!

  11. Hi Pip and everyone! I've only learnt to knit recently and I had a go at making socks few days ago. In fact it's my first knitting project. I have to say that it wasn't as easy as I wished for it to be but it is totally possible for a beginner to knit socks. I learnt the process entirely from youtube. If i can do it, you can all do it too :D

  12. Hey Pip, socks aren't that tricky so long as you can knit in the round.
My tip is to start out by making socks for a toddler or young child (with small feet) :) that way you learn the techniques in a smaller format - quicker gratification. Make sure you use a pattern with detailed instructions
